Tuschinski, also known as Pathé Tuschinski, is an iconic cinema in the heart of Amsterdam. Opened on October 28, 1921, it was designed by architect Hijman Louis de Jong and is a masterpiece combining Amsterdam School, Art Nouveau (Jugendstil), and Art Deco styles. The theater was commissioned by Jewish-Polish entrepreneur Abraham Icek Tuschinski, who already owned several cinemas in Rotterdam and wanted to bring a world-class theater experience to Amsterdam.
